Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ...
A great many church people want to be strong in themselves and in that which they have learned.
They think they are trusting in God but actually they are trusting in their own flesh and their own learning.
And through fleshly pride, they think they are supposed to take care of the problem themselves, rather than simply calling on God and submitting the problem to God and letting God work in the situation as HE wills.

My 97 year old cousin told me this: "I do well during the day, but I get so lonely in the evenings."
I told her, each evening when you start to feel pulled down, just turn to God and ask God to help you, filling your evening, and God will help you.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
About 2 weeks later, she wrote to me saying: "I do well during the day but I get so lonely in the evenings."
She didn't do the word of God.
Many in churches hear the Word of God and read the Word of God but fail to do the Word of God.

In 2018, I fell in my house in Texas and had to have surgery on my left hip which was broken in the fall.
I was in a rehabilitation hospital for 2 1/2 months in Texas. I was mostly alone. When I awoke in the mornings I would often have this thought: "How can I get through all this time today?"
And then I would remember to pray: "God ... please fill the time today and help me."
God always helped me. And I often was surprised that it was already dinner time! Where did all the time go? It flew by!

Be strong in the Lord ...
When I come in contact with worldly thinking, I often pray:
Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
It is not that I am asking God to help me. "I'm asking God to cleanse me!"
Some trust in themselves. But I turn to God trusting in HIM to cleanse my heart and spirit.
God restores my soul! (Psalm 23:3)
I trust in the power of God's might.

Some think themselves to be wise and to be able to figure out what to do.
I just ask God to give me wisdom. Trusting in God and not in myself.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do HIS commandments: HIS praise endureth for ever.
