Building your house on the word from God

When devil sends thoughts to our mind

When we cry out to God for help, God will help us, then we rejoice in the Word God sends to us and the devil, who has sent fearful and depressing thoughts to our mind, will flee from us.
 
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
 
If we take in thoughts sent from the devil and think on devil's thoughts, he will eat us alive.
 
I Peter 5:7-9  Casting all your care upon HIM (upon God); for HE careth for you.  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  Whom resist stedfast in the faith,

Recently I was bombarded with destructive thoughts.
 
What will happen to you if you get to where you can't walk?  You can't live here if you can't walk.  What will you do then?  Where will you go?  (I'm almost 85 now.)
 
I cried out:  "God ... help me."
 
And immediately I was reminded of this:  "God will supply all your need."  (Phil. 4:19)
 
"That's right!  I responded.
 
God will supply all my need!

As a new Christian, when devil bombarded me with thoughts, I would often just begin saying:
 
           Praise God.  Thank YOU for my salvation.
          Praise God.  Thank YOU for my salvation.
         Praise God.  Thank YOU for my salvation.
 
And before long, the devil vanished and joy from the Word of God returned to me.

When a ”brother” in Christ will not work

2 Thessalonians 3:6-12

When a brother, a person who is called a Christian, sins

Greater is HE that is in you than HE that is in the world

I John 4:4-6
 
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is HE that is in you, than he that is in the world.5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

God gave me this dream:
 
A war was going on.  Since everyone dressed alike, it was hard to know which persons were of God.  So we were given "passwords" to identify ourselves to each other.
 
Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
 
When we see they have the Spirit of God and they speak of that which God is doing in their lives, we know they are of God.
 
Most people today who call themselves "Christians" speak of the church they attend, or their pastor and how wonderful he is, and their church building, but they never speak of God and what HE has told them.
 
And I find when I tell them something God has done in my life, they go stone, cold, dead.  They just wait until I stop taking so they can talk of things of this world.
 
And another clue is they really have no understanding from God when they are Christians in name only.

In everything give thanks

One of the great spiritual weapons of our warfare is the giving of thanks to God.
 
The devil tries to destroy us by getting us to complain.
 
If we learn to turn this into praise to God for that which HE has given us, we find a mighty weapon!
 
So the next time you start to complain, make yourself think on those good things in your life.
 
Philippians 4:8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

💥  The first thing I thank God for is my own salvation.
 
💥  I thank God for giving us HIS Holy Spirit to teach us and lead us and guide us as we live on this present earth so we can know the way of God and the will of God.

💥  Then I thank God for the personal things in my life, the people, the many things which I enjoy, the place where I live, the many provisions, the animals, and all that I enjoy.
 
💥  I thank God for the calling on my life whereby I exhort the church in ways of God.  I thank God for the Internet and the Blog and Podcasts which enable me to do the will of God and the work of God in exhorting the church daily all over this world in this end time.

Taking care to do the following things as we wait for Jesus

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
 
Do not live in troubles but pray, taking all concerns to God and settling earthly matters with God through prayer.  Prayer connects us to God and makes us "worthy to escape."

Prosperity and good success

Joshua 1:8  This book of the law (Bible) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

As a young Christian I could see the way to prosper and have good success was to go in the way of the scriptures, doing what the scriptures said to do.

💥  Pray, settling all troubles with God:

Isaiah 54:17  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Receiving a full reward

We must build our house on the doctrines of Christ in the New Testament Bible.
 
The scriptures tells us:  Matthew 5:32  But I (Jesus) say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
 
So if we approve the man divorcing a faithful wife, we encourage that man in a way opposite to the doctrine of Christ and this work will not stand in the day of judgment and we will lose reward because we approved a way opposite to the doctrine of Christ in the Bible.
 
If we approve the man marrying that divorced woman, we go against the doctrine of Christ in the Bible.
 
If we encourage the divorced woman to remarry we go against several scriptures in the NT Bible.
 
I Corinthians 7:10-11  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
 
39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
 
Romans 7:2-3 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
 
Mark 10
 
11 And HE (Jesus) saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
 
Romans 1  (Concerning homosexuals and lesbians)
 
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. These are some of the doctrines of Christ.  If we approve a person when he does opposite then we lose reward and become a part of their evil deeds, says the apostle John.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

My cousin told me she did well until evening came and then she got so lonely.
 
I joyfully replied for I knew the answer for her problem.
 
I said to her:  "Oh that's no problem.  Just do what Paul said to do.  When you begin to feel that you are beginning to go down, pray, asking God to fill your evening. HE will!"
 
Do this scripture:  Philippians 4:6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
 
I knew this would work.  I have often asked God to help me and fill my day.  And God does that for me when I pray.
 
Then the following comes:Philippians 6:7   And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
 
Sometimes when I pray, it even feels like something heavy is lifted from off my shoulders.
 
A few weeks later, my cousin said to me:  "I do well during the day, but I get so lonely in the evenings."
 
I knew she didn't do Philippians 4:6.

Many hear the Word of God and read the scriptures but fail to do the Word, not having faith in God.

Raised to serve God

Galatians 2:20   I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

When I was 15, I went forth at church and was baptized in water ... but nothing happened.
 
When I was 37, God said to me:  "Joan ... you know those mistakes you've been making all these years?  Those weren't mistakes.  Those were sins."  I was very shocked!  And at that point God changed me giving me a new heart and a new spirit, causing me to be born again.
 
A few months later, the Holy Spirit said to me:  "Be baptized".  
 
At the time I heard this I was on a plane, enroute to Albuquerque, NM (USA).  My cousin was meeting me at the plane.  I said to her, "Jeanne ... if you can set it up I'll be baptized at the church this afternoon."  She replied:  "You've already been baptized."  I replied:  "Yes ... but I wasn't born again until now."
 
I knew she didn't understand being born again although she had attended Church of Christ all her life.
 
She did set it up and I was baptized.
 
As the minister lowered me into the water, the Holy Spirit said to me:  "This is like being buried with Christ."
 
As I came out of the water, the Holy Spirit said:  "This is like being raised with Christ."
 
Romans 6
 
2 ... Ephesians 3:20

Now unto HIM that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

The power that worketh in us is the Holy Spirit of God who searches the heart of God to show us the will of God so we know what we can do on this present earth.
 
Example:  2020  I was considering my 25 year old car and thinking I might put new upholstery on the front seat of the car, when the following came into my mind from the Holy Spirit of God:  "Or you could just buy a new car."
 
I had never thought of doing that!
 
But I could.  I had sold my house in Texas and the money was sitting in the bank.  I could buy new car and still have money left over.
 
That same night, I had a dream:  "I bought a new car."
 
So the day after the dream we went to see new cars and bought one.

The power that works in us:
 
I Corinthians 3:16   Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
 
John 14:26  Jesus says:  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
 
John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.
 
I Corinthians 2:1-14

The church is built on The Word which is revealed by God by HIS Holy Spirit

Matthew 16  (Jesus says:)
 
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, HE asked HIS disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but MY Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Church is built upon The Word that comes down from heaven:  The revealed Word from God.
 
Each time we read a scripture and God opens our understanding we have another "rock" upon which the church is built.
 
Also The Word comes from God by the Holy Spirit as HE shows us what to do as we live on this earth.  God simply calls something to our mind and we do that Word.

The Lord’s Supper: The Word of God

Today Jesus comes to us by the HOLY Spirit as The Word is brought to our mind.  And The Word is brought by the Holy Spirit as God reveals the scriptures to us so we can understand and do the instruction.
 
The Word is the food from Jesus.
 
The Lord's Supper is The Word from God, Jesus.

God creates a new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness

Isaiah 65:17  For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Jesus will come through the air and the dead in Christ who sleep in Jesus will awaken and Jesus will gather them to HIMSELF "in the air".
 
A few years ago, the Holy Spirit said to me, "In the air."
 
I found that in the following scripture:
 
I Thessalonians 4
 
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with HIM.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (go before) them which are asleep (dead).16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

We will be taken into the air  and we will be taken to the new heaven and new earth .
 
God showed the apostle John the new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteous.
 
Revelation 21 
 
1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.5 And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

The wise of this world devise schemes to circumvent God

1 Corinthians 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, HE taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
Job 5:13  HE taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.Isaiah 29:14  Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.Ecclesiastes 7:23  All this have I proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise; but it was far from me.
 
James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Man says to himself:  "I will be wise.  I will figure it out."  (I will outdo God.)
 
God brings a great plague of fire to scorch men in the last days.
 
Revelation 16:8-9  And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory
 
So man in his twisted wisdom says:  We have caused the climate to change because of all these gas cars.  We will change to electric cars.  So they make laws that there will be no more gas cars sold after 2035.  And they build electric cars.
 
Last week, I heard this report on CNN.  Due to the intense heat in California, they are afraid the power grid will fail.  So they asked people to use less electricity and they asked them not to fill their electric cars with electricity.
 
At the end time, the prophet Amos said it will be like this:

18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

The World in their wisdom says:  We will make a law and stop this problem, never considering that the problem is sent by God as a judgment over the sin of this world.
 
End time plagues from God:  (Revelation 8, 9, 16)
 
The angels of God bring the plagues upon this world: Rev. 8:2;6  And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets ... And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
 
💥  Forest fires:  The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.  (Rev. 8:7)  Is this happening now in our time? USA, Europe, Amazon Rain Forest, Australia
 
💥 Great mountain burning with fire cast into the sea:  And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. (Rev. 8:8-9)
 
💥 Plague on rivers and fountains of water:  And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. (Rev. 8:10-11)
 
💥 Sun, moon, and stars darkened:  And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.  (Rev. 8:12)13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!  (See Revelation 9; 16)

Are we seeing this now?

1980's ... God gave me a dream showing the earth slipping on its axis.  The governments of men and the politicians and the scientists and the religious leaders were meeting to see how they could correct this.  A newscaster on TV was trying to tell the story but he was so afraid that he just stopped speaking and walked off camera.
 
Isaiah 13:13   God says:  Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of HIS fierce anger.
 
Matthew 24:29-31  Jesus says:  Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

At the end of this world

The church and the world

The church are the individuals who have been given by God a "new heart" and a "new Spirit", the Holy Spirit to live inside them and guide them.
 
Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

You cannot make this world righteous by setting up laws.  
 
In the 1920's they tried to eliminate drunkenness by prohibition.
 
God's way is to eliminate drunkenness by giving the drunk a new heart and a new spirit.
 
A woman who was raised Baptist but was not born again became a drunk.  She tried to stop drinking but it was like people who make New Year's resolutions.  She failed many times.  Then one day, something happened.  God revealed HIMSELF to her, giving her a new heart and a new spirit. It happened instantly without her doing anything. She told her husband she was stopping drinking.  She had told him that many times before.  But this time she did because she was born again by God.
 
Ezekiel 36  God says:
 
23 And I will sanctify MY great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.24 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.27 And I will put MY spirit within you, and cause you to walk in MY statutes, and ye shall keep MY judgments, and do them.
God does this when you are the elect of God, chosen by God, born again by God by the Spirit of God.
 
Then you belong to God, created by God, a child of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
 
So if this has never happened to you, turn to God and ask HIM to save you, to give you HIS heart and HIS spirit.
 
When you know there has been a change in you without your doing anything you can rejoice in God who has done this and not in yourself.  God changes us from the inside, from our heart and spirit.
 
And it is God that puts us into the church by giving us a new heart and a new spirit.
 
I John 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in HIS Son.

Jesus says: Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God

We are born again when God reveals HIMSELF and THE WORD to us.
 
When I was approximately 15, I went forward at church and was baptized in water.  There was no change at all in my life.
 
When I was 37, God spoke to me by HIS Spirit and said to me:  "Joan ... You know those mistakes you've been making all these years?  Those weren't mistakes.  Those were sins."
 
I was so shocked.  I thought they were "mistakes".
 
With that Word, God caused me to be "born again" instantly, a "new creature".
 
Now I wanted to read the Bible.  I wanted to know things of God.  I wanted to be with the people of God.  I was completely changed by God.
 
God gave me a new heart and a new spirit and this caused me to go in the way of God.
 
Ezekiel 36  God says:

When God reveals HIMSELF to us we are born again and created as a "new creature".

God gives us a new heart and a new Spirit to live in us and lead us and guide us.
 
Before we were born again, we followed our own wisdom and the wisdom of this world.  Now we follow the wisdom sent to us by God by HIS Holy Spirit.
 
I Corinthians 2:14  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
 
A person can try to do the right thing before he is born again but he will always be a little off like a radio station that is not fully tuned into the radio station.
 
John 3  
 
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
 
We are not born again by our own will as some think.  We are born again by the will of God.
 
Romans 9
 
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of HIM that calleth;)12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.15 For HE saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew MY power in thee, and that MY name might be declared throughout all the earth.18 Therefore hath HE mercy on whom HE will have mercy, and whom HE will he hardeneth.
(If you are born again, you will understand this scripture.  But if you are not born again, you will try to explain this scripture away.)
 
There is an elect of God and a chosen people of God and they are born again and have the heart of God and the Spirit of God inside of them.

Angels: Do angels work in the New Testament church today?

By the Bible we see whether or not God still uses such things as angels in the New Testament Church.
 
Do we have examples in the New Testament of angels being used for the work of God?
 
After I was born again, I went to the Bible and read each example concerning angels in the New Testament.

Matthew 1:18-25  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

In a dream, God told Joseph to take the young child, Jesus, and Mary and flee into Egypt because Herod would try to kill Jesus.  So Joseph by night took them into Egypt.
 
Matthew 2
 
19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

Examples in Bible of angels being sent to help men who already have the Holy Spirit in them.
 
Acts 12
 
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
 
When we read from Bible such examples, we can be assured that God could do the same thing for us today in the church if needed.  And we know that God uses HIS angels today in the NT Church to help the church and also to deliver messages to the church as in the following case of the apostle Paul.
 
Acts 27  (Paul speaking when their ship was in danger of being shipwrecked)
 
20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
An angel instructs Philip:
 
Acts 8:26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
 
An angel speaks to Cornelius a Gentile to get Peter to preach to him that he and his household could be saved:
 
Acts 10:32-33  Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.
 
An angel removes the great stone from the tomb of Jesus:
 
Matthew 28:2  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
 
Seven angels brought the wrath of the great tribulation of God upon the earth:
 
Revelation 8:2  And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
 
One by one, these angels sounded their trumpets and then came the plagues of God upon the earth to judge the earth at the end of the world.
 
Jesus sends HIS angels to gather the elect of God and remove them from the earth before the earth is destroyed by God.
 
Matthew 24:31  And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

As I read such scriptures in the New Testament Bible, I see how God uses angels to help HIS people today and to do HIS will, and I am assured angels are still used by God for our benefit to show us the will of God.
 
In January, 1980, I was asleep in the night when a very loud "trumpet like" voice spoke 3 words into my ear:  "Hertford, Seattle, KWJS"
 
(I believe this message, which caused me to go on radio to exhort the church, was spoken by an angel, because it was so loud and "trumpet like" and often I read about angels speaking with such power.)
 
Also in 1982, in a dream, an angel spoke to me to warn me not to go out for I would be in great danger, and he said:  "Don't go until you see Exodus 15."  So I cancelled all my meetings which I had planned for that year.
 
And the Holy Spirit reminded me of this scripture:  
 
John 16:1-3  Jesus said:  These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor ME.

The Holy Spirit of God

The Holy Spirit is given to each person who is born again and that Holy Spirit dwells in us to help us in the things of God while we live on this earth.
 
I Corinthians 3:16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Ways we are helped by the Holy Spirit:
 
John 14:26  Jesus says: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
 
 
John 16:13  Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear (from God), that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come.

The Holy Spirit searches the heart of God to know the will of God and HE brings to our mind what God has shown HIM so we can know the way to go in issues of this present life.
 
I Corinthians 2
 
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
 
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.10  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

If we walk in the way shown us by the Spirit of God, we will not fulfill the works of the flesh.
 
Romans 8
 
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
 
Galatians 5
 
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;  Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

When we try to be ”friends” with unbelievers

Immediately, when I was born again in l975, I was changed.  I wanted to be with church people.  I no longer wanted to be with worldly people.
 
I mentioned this to two Baptist women and they were shocked and said to me, "Oh ... don't do this.  Keep your friends from the world."
 
But I couldn't.

Exhort one another

(exhort: urge earnestly by advice or warning)14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear HIS voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.17 But with whom was HE grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?18 And to whom sware HE that they should not enter into HIS rest, but to them that believed not?19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

(exhort:  urge earnestly with advice and warning)26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?30 For we know HIM that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto ME, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge HIS people.31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
